Rumor has it that SyFy is making plans for another Battlestar Galactica spin-off TV series. Syfy is looking to continue its popular “Battlestar” franchise as well. When Syfy executive vp development Mark Strern was asked about whether the modestly performing spinoff “Caprica” will get a renewal, he was bullish to say the least. He said the show recently hit a series high in the adult demographic using Live+7 ratings. The show has been drawing 1.6 million viewers and 913,000 adults 18-49.

He also says they have high hopes of the show. The DVR data seems promising and growing steadily week in week out. He also mentioned that ratings are not a true indicator of the potential audience. The network is looking towards another “Battlestar”-related project. Only a few details were given but Stern emphasized that the title would mark a return to the roots for the franchise’s space-opera origins.

Their aim is to look for other methods to spin off ‘Battlestar’ beyond ‘Caprica,’”. The richness of that world was specially mentioned by Mark. They are to sit down with (executive producer) Ron Moore and his team to discuss further about it. The series has a high possibility of not being a traditional one.
