Battlestar Galactica was created by Glen A. Larson. The science fiction franchise is a remake of the 1978 classic Battlestar Galactica TV Series. This idea was an original of Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

Battlestar Galactica revolves around the life in the universe. In a distant galaxy, a group of human civilization lives in a distant galaxy known as Twelve Colonies. The Twelve Colonies is composed of a group of planets and the human civilization living in these planets have migrated from their home world called Kobol. They have migrated from their ancestral home world due to the cybernatic race called Cylons who deems to exterminate the human race. For decades the Twelve Colonies have been warred.

The Cylon Empire tricks the humans by offering peace but then their real intention is to attack the home planets and terminate mankind. A human traitor named Balter helped the Cylons to attack the home planets of the Twelve Colonies and the Colonial Fleet of starships. The attack was devastating which turned out to have destroyed the population of the Twelve Colonies.

Survivors of the massive attack were scattered into the outer space and some were on board the remaining available starships. Only the Battlestar Galactica remained not wrecked by the attack.

Battlestar Galactica is a massive aircraft carrier in the outer space and is one of those few aircrafts that have survived the attack. The ship is under the command of Commander Cain and led by Commander Adama. The ship is in search of the thirteenth colony, which happens to be Earth.
